Credit Nigo with starting the "Pop Art Clothing" craze in '93 when he starting selling his Bape t-shirts and hoodies from his small store in Japan. Then he killed the game when he introduced, what many would call the "epitome of collectible footwear", the indelible Bapesta.
Years down the line he helped NERD and Neptunes front man Pharrell Williams launch his Billionaire Boy Club and Ice Cream Footwear brands which have been a great success but now... We've got Play Cloths?
From none other than Neptunes and NERD associates the Clipse. When asked about the influence behind Play Cloths, Malice (of the Clipse) responded "...this is not rapper fashion, it's streetwear." Funny coming from a rapper right? Far be it from me to say that Nigo had anything to do with the production of this particular clothing line but his influence is all over it, even down to the "exclamation" logo. As with anything lauded and exclusive it's hard to come by... Fraiche...
